DTE Teacher Research Panel Returns

The Developmental Teacher Education (DTE) program hosted its second Panel of Teacher Research on May 10 for graduating students to present and discuss their MA thesis research.

“Teachers see and think about their students every day,” said Zareen Poonen who organized the event with fellow graduate Jessica Jung. “They offer a reflective and critical look and unique ability to bridge the worlds of research and teaching.”

Panels and discussions offered at the event were:

“Investigating Language and Literacy in Schools and at Home”

Manuel Herrera, Zareen Poonen, Nicole Krauch and Stella Aung

“Integrating Supportive Teaching Practices into the Classroom”

Pha Pha Hamilton, Jessica Jung, Rachel Bloom, Rasheeda Turner, Niki Ren and Kevin Jeung

“Exploring Cultural and Social Issues in Education”

Lila Keene, Max Chau, Morgan Alconcher, Samara Ripps, Malana Willis and Vivian Hsieh

Professors Paul Ammon, Maryl Gearhart and Elisa Salasin served as moderators.

The panels were followed by a concluding discussion and reception.
