Professor Glynda Hull was awarded a five-year, $15 million dollar grant from the California Department of Education 21st Century Community Learning Centers for her digital literacy projects — Space to Create and KidNet — in Oakland’s elementary and middle schools. The project is also supported by a major grant from the Spencer Foundation.
Assistant Professor Randi Engle was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) five-year career-development grant to systematically investigate how instruction can be designed to encourage students to transfer what they have learned from one context to other contexts. The award provides funding for two doctoral students a year as well as three collaborating teachers over the course of the project.
