In Brief

Professor Frank C. Worrell received the 2011 Chancellor's Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence at a reception on June 8. The Chancellor's Award is presented annually to a UC Berkeley distinguished faculty member based on his or her distinctive contributions and auspicious success in enhancing diversity and equal opportunity. Recipients receive a $10,000.00 grant to be placed into a departmental account for discretionary use by the awardee in continuing her/his work.

Professor Glynda Hull; GSE doctoral candidate Amy Stornaiuolo and Urvashi Sahni, the founder of Studyhall Foundation in Lucknow, UP, India; won the 2011 Janet Emig Award, given annually by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) to the article published in English Education that most contributes to thinking about English teacher education and most informs our research. The article, "Cultural Citizenship and Cosmopolitan Practice: Global Youth Communicate Online," was published in English Education in July of 2010.

Professor Mark Wilson was recently elected as the President of the Psychometric Society for 2011-2012... Associate Professor Zeus Leonardo and Worrell were appointed to serve as coeditors of The American Educational Research Association (AERA) Review of Educational Research (RER). Their appointments started July 1, and they will become the coeditors of record for the 2012 through 2014 volume years... Worrell was elected Fellow of International Psychology (Division 52) and a Fellow in the Association for Psychological Science... Anne Cunningham was elected Fellow of Education Psychology (Division 15) the American Psychological Association (APA)... Janelle Scott joined the editorial board of the American Education Research Journal-Social and Institutional Analysis.
