Unified School District Superintendent Tony Smith, a GSE graduate,
led a discussion on how that East Bay city transformed its schools
and city policies by placing education at the heart of redevelopment.
The Center for Cities
and Schools public forum in November also included Emeryville
City Manager John Flores, UC Berkeley professor Robert Ogilvie
from the Department of City and Regional Planning and McClymonds
High School alumna and current Berkeley student Xenia Simms.
