David Pearson, dean of the Graduate School of Education, and alumnus
of the College of Education and Human Development at the University
of Minnesota, received the Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA) from
the University on May 5.
The OAA is the highest non-degree award conferred upon distinguished alumni by the University. The award recognizes graduates or former students of the University who have attained unusual distinction in their chosen fields or professions, or in public service, and who have demonstrated outstanding achievement on a community, state, national or international level.
University Regent Lakeesha Ransom presented the OAA to Dean Pearson at a ceremony in Minneapolis. The ceremony was part of the College of Education and Human Development's centennial gala and reunion weekend.
Pearson received a Ph.D. in reading education
in 1969 from the University of Minnesota, and served as a faculty member
in the College from 1969–79.
