GPA Calculator for Application to the GSE
A GPA worksheet must be submitted in order for your application to
be considered complete; you may print out the calculated results of this page as the worksheet. Exception: a worksheet is not required if you attended non-U.S. institutions, or your college did not assign letter grades (e.g., S/U only, or
narrative reviews used).
Applicants who have attended U.S. institutions should list
all courses taken for a letter grade
after the first two years of college. Please do not depart
from this formula, as it is determined by the Graduate Division.
Your GPA information will be verified; if it is found
to be inaccurate, it could jeopardize your admission to the
University.
If you have a graduate degree or have taken graduate
courses after completing a B.A., please use this worksheet a
second time and calculate the GPA for these courses separately.
Please do not include post-B.A. courses on your B.A. worksheet.
If you have a combination of semester and quarter units, please convert
quarter units into semester units by using the following formula: quarter
units x 2/3 = semester units (e.g., 4 quarter units = 2.67 semester units). If all your units are of one type, just enter those units as is.
Use the following grade point per unit system:
| A+,A = 4.0
| A- = 3.7
| B+ = 3.3
| B = 3.0
| B- = 2.7
| C+ = 2.3
|
| C = 2.0
| C- = 1.7
| D+ = 1.3
| D = 1.0
| D- = 0.7
| F = 0.0
|
Do not enter number, P/NP, or S/U grades; invalid data will result in zero grade points for that line, but you will have an opportunity to correct this.
Clicking on the "Calc GPA" button, will display a new printable page with your courses and your GPA. If you need to make corrections, make sure you use your web browser's BACK button to return to this page, or you will have to reenter your data (this may not work for some browsers).

computation, please consult the
