Returning or Continuing UC Berkeley Graduate Students
These instructions are intended for any applicant who was previously or is currently registered as a graduate student on the UC Berkeley campus, including current GSE students applying for an additional degree.
The deadline to apply for the Fall 2009 semester is December 1, 2008, for all programs except the Principal Leadership Institute and the Leadership for Educational Equity Program, which both have a January 16, 2009 deadline.
Send the following materials to:

- Departmental Application (pdf) for the Graduate School of Education.
- Graduate Petition for Change of Major or Degree Goal. Available for download from the Registrar's Office. Required signatures will be obtained by the Admissions Office.
- Statement of Purpose.
- Official transcripts from all college-level institutions attended. If you are a returning GSE student, please confirm with the Admissions Office that your original transcripts are still on file. If you are a student from another UC Berkeley graduate department, you may have copies of transcripts sent directly from your home department.
- Three Letters of Recommendation.
- Required Examinations. See Examinations page.
In addition, returning graduate students must also submit:
- Application for Readmission - Graduate, including the Statement of Legal Residence. Available for download from the Registrar's Office. Required signatures will be obtained by the Admissions Office.
- $60 Application fee. (Make check or money order payable to UC Regents.)
