Developmental Teacher Education
The Arts Education Initiative (AEI), based at the University of California, Berkeley's Graduate School of Education, seeks to prepare new public school teachers who infuse the arts throughout their curriculum.
The Arts Education Initiative (AEI) believes that every child is entitled to high quality, fully integrated arts education and that the arts are an essential part of our communities and society. AEI believes that the arts broaden and deepen the education of teachers, making them more effective in the classroom and in the broader community. The arts allow cultural diversity among credential candidates to manifest itself in university courses. Subsequently, candidates seek out and honor the whole student in the classrooms and schools where they teach.
