The Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Research Directory is an aggregation of the search pages of primary online resources on service-learning and civic engagement research in K-12 education, teacher education, and higher education. The search databases of these online resources are posted on a single-page, providing a one-stop source for accessing available research information from existing databases. The Service-Learning and Civic Engagement National Research Directory provides direct access to searchable databases that contain information on:
  • current research investigations underway that are focused on service-learning and/or civic engagement.
  • funding opportunities and request for proposals for service-learning and civic engagement research.
  • service-learning researchers, including graduate students, who have investigated or are investigating service-learning and civic engagement activities.
  • journals and periodicals that welcome research on service-learning and civic engagement.
  • published research agendas on service-learning and civic engagement.

What is the advantage of this Directory?

Currently, to gather information on service-learning or civic engagement research, one needs to conduct searches on various different databases, which are often buried within various websites. The National Research Directoryís top-level topics link directly to Web pages containing major service-learning research databases. Because the Directory encases these databases in floating frames rather than plain hyperlinks, one is able to easily harvest information directly from multiple service-learning and civic engagement databases with one stop at National Research Directory home page.

The Service-Learning And Civic Engagement Research Directory is a project of the UC Berkeley Service-Learning Research and Development Center and was made possible by a grant from the Spencer Foundation.
