David Brashear serves as the Coaching Coordinator for the 21CSLA Alameda Regional Academy. Prior to joining the Leadership Programs at the Graduate School of Education, David served at the San Mateo County Office of Education supporting districts with change and continuous improvement efforts.
Mr. Brashear was drawn to this position because of his passion for supporting leaders. He believes that with the myriad of challenges faced by educational leaders, it is coaching that can provoke the change necessary to transform education. David believes that through coaching leaders build their capacity to take action in identifying and eliminating barriers preventing access and equity. Coaching sessions leave him energized!
Mr. Brashear brings to this role 34 years of experience in public education - classroom teacher, staff developer, site, district, county schools administrator and leadership coach. Throughout his career he has chosen to focus on transforming systems designed to support students who are living in poverty, students of color and language minority students with the goal of equity realized in high student achievement.
