Nicole Cedillo

Nicole Cedillo is an accomplished educator, researcher, and advocate for equitable education with a rich background in history, feminist studies, and English language development. With a Master of Arts in History from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Arts in Feminist Studies and History from the University of California, Santa Cruz, Nicole has seamlessly woven academic knowledge with a passion for creating inclusive learning environments.

The journey into education began with Nicole earning a Single Subject English Language Arts certification from the Reach Institute for School Leadership in Oakland, Calif. This credential laid the foundation for a transformative career in education, marked by a commitment to professional development and a focus on English Language Development (ELD). Nicole served as the English Language Development Specialist at Alpha Public Middle Schools @ Blanca Alvarado in San Jose, Calif., for three years. Here, she taught ELD classes for grades 5-8, conducted professional development presentations for a dedicated teaching staff, and oversaw the ELPAC testing for the entire school. Beyond the classroom, Nicole is recognized for her commitment to community outreach and service. Whether organizing Women's History Month events, facilitating Girls on the Run lessons, or creating spaces for teacher self-care, she has consistently demonstrated a dedication to holistic education that goes beyond traditional academic boundaries.

Throughout her career, Nicole has garnered several honors and awards, including completion of the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award; the Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers; and the Minerva Scholarship Program. These accolades underscore her commitment to excellence in education and continuous professional growth. With an unyielding commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments, Nicole continues to shape the future of education, leaving an impactful mark on students, colleagues, and the broader community.
