Prince Estanislao (he/they) is a student in the Joint Doctoral Program in Special Education. He serves as an intern supervisor and course instructor at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Furthermore, he is a Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) contributing to both the Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics (BCSP) and the Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) initiative at UC Berkeley.
Prince's academic journey includes achieving a master's degree in early childhood special education from SFSU and a career history as a special education teacher in several Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore, and the United States. His scholarship is centered on childhood trauma, neurodiversity, special education experiences of refugees and undocumented immigrants, and psychedelics.
Prince's own intersectional identity as a queer immigrant of color has profoundly influenced his commitment to supporting marginalized populations within the U.S. education system. His personal challenges mirror the struggles faced by the underserved families he has worked with throughout his career. Through the integration of research and engaged practice, Prince seeks to inspire educators in the field to reorganize their perspectives on disability, placing trauma-informed and healing-centered educational practices at the core of their teaching pedagogies.
